Setup Manager is what makes a new Mac go from box to fully configured without anyone touching it. Getting there means a lot of moving parts in Jamf Pro: packages, a PreStage, a smart group, an API role, a policy, and the configuration profiles that tie it all together. Miss one and the whole thing quietly doesn't work.This guide walks the entire build in order, on real screens. Every click is shown and called out as it happens, so you can follow along in your own tenant and pause wherever you need to.
What we cover
- Chapter One prepares Jamf Pro: downloading the files, creating a category, uploading the packages, building the PreStage enrollment, a smart computer group, the API role and client for Jamf Icon Uploader, and the policy Setup Manager triggers during enrollment.
- Chapter Two configures Setup Manager itself. The main configuration profile with its enrollment actions, the Jamf Checklist profiles, and attaching everything to the PreStage.
Then we power on a Mac and watch it happen. Language, Wi-Fi, enrollment, apps installing on their own, and the checklist handing the user a finished machine.
Before you start
You'll need a Jamf Pro instance with admin rights, Automated Device Enrollment set up in Apple Business Manager, and a test Mac assigned to your MDM server. Grab the files first:

Package versions change. Setup Manager and Jamf Checklist both update regularly, so use whatever's current when you download, not the version numbers on screen.Captions are available in the player, and the chapter markers let you jump straight to the piece you need.
